Connect Events Are Back! (November Newsletter)

Eric and McKenzie’s haven took to the trail of preparation for what is shaping to be a great season and Summer of 2023! We have several exciting announcements this month! Social Connect events are coming back, and the new podcast – Chapel Talks has a release date coming in December. So, we’ve created this monthly newsletter to inform our community about Red Arrow. We will share updates about camp updates, tell you of any alumni or community events, and feature some exciting content from time to time.

The leaves have been falling at camp, and the lake is frigid. Within a few weeks, the lake will be covered in layers of ice and buried in the snow. Red Arrow, in the fall, tends to be a tranquil place. Neighbors and alums will wander throughout camp with their dogs and explore camp in its resting phase.

Enrollment Update: A Strong Start!

It is safe to say enthusiasm is at a fever pitch for many families already as we point our arrow to Summer 2023. By the end of October, we were already over half full of campers, with 48 boys enrolled! That is ahead of schedule! In addition, we have over eight pairs of siblings coming to camp. Overwhelmingly, we have a strong return rate not just from the boys who attended camp in 2022 but also from several boys who attended camp in 2021 and will be making another appearance in 2023. We are thrilled to see them again and look forward to their continued growth at Red Arrow.

Applications For Staff Is Now Open!

In the Rec Hall at camp, mounted to the rafters, is a saying – “A man never stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child.” Working at Red Arrow can be one of life’s most rewarding and impactful experiences. They directly impact boys’ lives as they grow up to become great men. But don’t just take our word for it. Click the video below to hear from our recent staff about the job.

Connects Events Are Back!

We are thrilled to announce three community get-togethers. First, have an exciting event this winter at the well-known “Whirly Ball” dining and game space. This event is open to family, friends, and alumni in the Chicago area.

The other two events will take place in Mexico City in March. The first event is excellent for all – campers, friends, family, and alumni. The second event is for all of our adult alumni in Mexico. We cannot wait to connect with you all!

Legacy Books Are Still For Sale! The Perfect Red Arrow Holiday Gift.

As part of the 100th reunion celebration, two amazing books were created to celebrate RAC’s unique history.

A Beautiful Day at Red Arrow is a photography book by Pablo Fregoso which captures the timeless spirit of camp. Campers and counselors from any era will be instantly transported back to their time at camp. This book is available with a $150 donation to the RAC Foundation.

Fun With Food at Red Arrow Camp was created by Sue Krohn and Marilyn Hopper to celebrate camp’s unique culinary history. The cookbook includes all of your favorite recipes from camp, plus favorite recipes from camp alumni and fun recollections on camp. This book is available for a $25 donation to the RAC Foundation earmarked for the Boesel Scholarship Fund.

You can use this site to make a donation to camp and obtain your copy of the books.
