Cabin Counselor (Age: 19+)

The Cabin Counselor/Instructor is responsible for guiding, supervising, instructing, coaching, organizing, caring for campers in the cabin, in activities, on trips, and throughout camp.

NOTE: Anticipated instructional needs for Summer 2025 (but not limited to) are: Tennis,
La Crosse, Riflery, Tennis, Mtn. Biking, Fishing, Water Skiing, Soccer, Sailing, Woodworking,
Nature, Track, Basketball, and Swimming.


Minimum Age Required: 19


Employment Dates are: June 6 th – August 7 th (some staff may be required to come two days prior for specific training needs in certain areas)


Starting Salary: $3,200-3,500 (depending on age/year in school)


1. Primary responsibilities are:
a. Live in a cabin with campers and a co-counselor, sharing time with and creating a positive
camper group.
b. Ensure that campers are properly supervised at all times and that all established
camp policies are observed.
c. Supervise daily living, including waking boys up and putting them to bed at night,
overseeing campers’ personal hygiene, counseling homesick campers, and leading off site
overnight backpacking and canoeing camping trips.
d. Communicate effectively with co-counselors, heads of programs, and Directors including
working together to provide consistent, positive discipline.
e. Actively work to help campers develop friendships, demonstrate respect for
others, and grow in leadership and responsibility.
f. Complete all assigned reports, record keeping, and parent communications as
assigned.
g. Participate in physical preparations of pre and post camp.

2. Maintain high standards of health and safety throughout camp for campers and staff. You will:
a. Provide for the physical, psychological, and emotional care of each camper
within your supervision, including recognition of personal health needs.
b. Assist campers with personal, interpersonal, and health issues, and discuss with
Camp Nurse or Director when appropriate.
c. Ensure that campers follow all established safety procedures for activities
throughout camp, including providing a safety orientation, safety checking equipment, and
ensuring the proper use of equipment.
3. Develop and deliver instruction and programming that is fun, engaging, developmental, and
appropriate for the age and ability of campers. You will:
a. Plan and teach progressive activities/classes designed to accommodate different ages,
abilities, and interests, including rainy day activities.
b. Follow all established objectives, progressions, procedures and safety
regulations.
c. Continuously evaluate the success of the program and adjust activities
accordingly.
d. Model good sportsmanship, cooperation, spirit, and effort.
e. Participate in the maintenance, inventory, and care of equipment and supplies
used in camp activities.
f. Plan, organize and/or supervise special cabin, unit or camp activities and trips as
delegated by the Director/Program Head.

Kitchen Assistant (Age: 16-17)

The main role for the cookie is to prep, serve and clean up after meals. Each cookie will also be assigned to assist in instruction for 1 class based on skill and interest. The cookie will also be given the opportunity to be assigned to a younger cabin to learn from, and support cabin counselors while also participating in one trip with that assigned cabin in the summer.

DUTIES:

This position is responsible for assisting in the efficient operation of the kitchen and the dining area by maintaining cleanliness
standards through the operation of the dishwashing equipment, removing garbage, cleaning work areas including sweeping and mopping of floors. This position also assists in the dining hall meal
service setting tables, providing beverages and assisting in general food
preparation as directed by the Head Cook. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Responsible for operating the dishwashing machine. 
 Maintain organization of dishware, small wares, pots and pans in storage areas 
 Responsible for removing trash from the kitchen areas and depositing in the appropriate areas, 
 Assist in basic food preparation and execution of meal service. 
 Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas. 

WORK HOURS:

7am to mid-morning … 11:45 to early afternoon … and
2:45 until clean-up is done. Evenings are duty free. Cookies receive two
half-days off each week on Wednesday and Sunday following noon meal clean-up. Transportation to town and back is provided by the
camp for time off on Sundays if rules and restrictions that go with this are followed. Vehicle availability and work performance determine
transportation options on Wednesdays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Commitment to maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment and the ability to take direction and work as a team. Your performance in this role is a steppingstone if considering a counselor role in the future at Red Arrow Camp.

CAMP LIFE:

Kitchen staff are welcome to enjoy free time in camp in a variety of ways. We encourage utilizing camp equipment safely, and free time to assist in camper classes and/or participate to gain additional experience working with others. This free time is contingent upon completion of all primary kitchen duties.

Horseback Riding Assistant (Age: 16-17)

Reporting directly to the Head of the Riding program, stable duties include cleaning stalls and tack, feeding horses as well as prepping them for riding. Stable duties may also include assisting with instruction & helping supervise trail rides.

Compensation: $2500

HOURS:

Stable boys start their day at 6:30am and are on duty until 5:00pm on average. All meals and housing are provided. Transportation to town and back is provided by the camp for time off on Sundays as long as rules and restrictions that go with this are followed. Vehicle availability and work performance determine transportation options on Wednesdays. Stable boys will be offered the opportunity to participate in camp functions, and social connection with counselors and campers
as time allows.
